What Was I Thinking Wednesday

This week is a photo of my "punk" look.  Its a little different than the emo crap kids do now. Im not sure what grade I was in..maybe a junior? Either way I would dress like this or more "gothish"

My friends and I would see how many necklaces we could shove on all at one time. The yellow sunglasses were my favorite things in the entire world!  From what I can remember I has red bondage type pants on in this photo and some adidas superstars. Did anyone wear those type of adidas shoes? I freaking loved them...I wonder if they still make them?
Honestly the only thing that looks really stupid in this photo is the choker necklaces. oh and my pose, CORNY!!!!

Vichy Laboratories Birchbox

As a monthly subscriber to Birchbox I was excited to see an additional box send to me for free on top of the $10.00 box I received for February. This box is full of anti aging skincare products from a French company called Vichy Laboratoires. There products are founded by a doctor and are highly popular in France.  Birchbox has teamed up with this company to spread some of Vichy top products to us subscribers here in America.
I have no idea what these products are like, the only thing Ive done so far was take them out of the box to photograph and sniff them so this will be a brief overview of what the products are. I am not a big anti aging product user right at this moment, most of those types of products are too thick for my skin but as I test these out Ill do another post if any certain ones stand out for me :)

This box held 4 larger sized samples and 1 packet sized sample.

Purete Thermal Eye Makeup Remover for sensitive eyes

Purete Thermal 3-in-1 one step cleanser- works as a cleansing milk, toner and makeup remover in one bottle

Aqualia Thermal Cream- 24 hour hydrating daily moisturizer

Lifactiv Rhamnose Night- Anti-Wrinkle, firming cream that is used at night

Celludestock- intensive cellulite treatment for thighs, hips and booty :)

DISCLAIMER: I was sent this box for free unknowingly, birchbox did not contact me to review these items. All opinions on this are my own.

Makeup Geek Shadows

Finally ordered a few colors from Makeup Geek and I am super excited to use them!
If your not familiar with the brand it is from a makeup artist/ YouTube guru/blogger named Marlena. She has a wonderful blog full of makeup oriented things. Tons of videos, forums, makeup ideas and she even has challenges that members of her blog can post their own makeup looks. With all of that she also has a store on her blog that sells some of her favorite makeup brands and brushes and within that she has come out with her own line of  makeup and brushes aka the makeup geek line. She started off with brushes(that I still need to purchase) and went onto makeup. Eyeshadows were her first makeup product of her line to come out and of course I had to snatch a few up to try. Oh and I believe her next thing in the line is going to be lipsticks and glosses :) but anyway on to the goods!

Dirty Martini- a matte olive green shade. I lost my mac flourishing color somehow and this one looked to be a good dupe for it.

Purple Rain-(teehee what a cute name *cough*prince*cough*)-a matte plum shade. I have been into purple shadows and really wanted a matte one for some reason.

Shimma Shimma-a shimmery champagne shade. great for all types of highlighting!! I have also found it to be a close dupe to MAC all that glitters, which I have hit pan on awhile ago.

(left to right and no primer used)
Dirty Martini,Purple Rain,Shimma Shimma

(left to right over too faced shadow insurance)
Dirty Martini, Purple Rain, Shimma Shimma

These shadows go on very easy without feeling chalky and have GREAT color payoff, especially when used with a base. Shimma shimma is so soft it almost feels like a cream product. Dirty Martini and Purple Rain seem to have some staying power behind them because it took me a long time to remove the swatch from my arm. If your looking for a new line of makeup to add to your collection I would highly reccomend these shadows, oh and guess what...there $5.99 a piece and there are 50 shades to choose from!! That's a deal for a shadow of this quality!!

The shadows only come in pan form though.  I needed to get something to put them in because I had nothing, so I picked up a Zpalette!  If you do not have a palette to put them in these Zpalettes are great! They are magnetic so the shadows stay put and don't move around as well as the lid so it stays shut. These paletts are also sold on the makeup geek site. Isn't the cheetah print cute? I thought it was. The smaller palette is $13.99 and can hold 9 eyeshadows the size of the makeup geek ones. The palettes come in different colors and patterns and they also have a larger size if you need extra shadow storage.

HAVE YOU TRIED ANYTHING FROM MAKEUP GEEK? IF SO, DO YOU THINK IT IS AWESOME LIKE I DO? :)

What was I thinking Wednesday

The next few weeks for What Was I Thinking are all photos of me when I was in my "goth" or "punk" stage...yep...I was one of those kids with the band shirts and HUGE pants! The bad thing is, Id love to show a photo of me in these huge pants but I can not find any that don't have other people in the photo also. I had some pretty wide Jenco Jeans!

Purple/black hair and a Korn hoody...yep I loved that thing, now I say Really?

Birchbox Feburary 2012

This months box is supposed to be a Valentines Day theme, here's what I received:

Jouer Moisture Tint in color Bronze-$38.00 for 1.7oz This is a tinted moisturizer that gives a dewy glow to the skin. The color is more for summer because it gives a subtle bronze glow to the face. I will say that this sample is TINY it is a one time use sample for sure.

Colorescience Glow and go travel puff in color Kissed by the sun- $50.00 for .21oz bottle with attached brush. This is a puff filled with bronzing powder that can be reused a few times and after the puff runs out of product it can be washed and used for other things. I'm not sure why they put bronzing products in a winter month box...maybe having a bronze face is what they thought was good for a valentines day makeup look?

Dermalogica daily microfoliant-$50.00 for 2.6oz. This product is an exfoliating powder. I have used this a few times and it works well. To use it shake about a teaspoon of the powder onto a damp hand and rub hands together so the powder turns into a paste, rub all over face avoiding the eye area and rinse off with warm water.

Eye Rock designer liner adhesives-$13.00 for 2 packs. This is 1 pack of winged eye liner stickers. each pack has four different winged designs. These are great for people that struggle with winged out liner. I have not tried these yet but when I do I will post my makeup look for them.

(top to bottom)
Green River Ordinance-free music download. birchbox is offering 6 or 7 songs for free on their site us birchbox subscribers can download. I have no idea who this band is :therefore; I have no idea what type of music it is or how good the band is.

Heart nail file- This is a cute little bright pink file that I'm going to shove in my purse for my nasty always breaking nails :)

This months box didn't scream valentines day to me at all. The only thing close is the nail file. :(

Smashbox BB Cream Review

I have been wanting to try a BB cream FOREVER now but they all have been way to light for me so when I saw Smashbox Camera Ready BB cream at my local Sephora I had to get it!

Like most BB creams, this one also is a multitasking product, it serves as a primer for foundation, if you choose to use foundation with it, it is an oil controller, moisturizer and has an SPF of 35.
I have been using this product everyday for the last two weeks and I LOVE it. I squeeze about a pea size amount of the product onto a clean hand and then dot it all over my face, I then use a stippling brush to stipple it on and then buff it all in.It lasts all day, controls the oil on my face and doesn't feel heavy at all!   The consistency is in between a foundation and a tinted moisturizer, so basically it gives more coverage than a regular tinted moisturizer and less coverage than a regular foundation. I have been using it alone without foundation and it does give me the right amount of coverage. The great thing about this BB cream is that it comes in 4 shade choices so you will be able to find the right one for your skin tone. If you have problem skin than this would be a great primer to use before applying foundation because
1.It will control all the extra oil on your face
and
2. It will make your foundation go on super smooth. Plus you wont have to use as much foundation because the BB cream will help cover problem spots.

Blended into the left side of my hand.

Im in shade light, just in case anyone cares :)

Photo of me with my makeup all finished and using only the Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream as my "foundation."

This product retails for $39 US Dollars for 1oz of product

HAVE YOU TRIED THIS PRODUCT YET? IF SO, WHAT DID YOU THINK OF IT?

What was I thinking Wednesday

I have a few photos Ill show from High School this first one is of some braids I had put in my hair. I thought it was cool at the time. Looking back at it now, I look stupid, especially with those two little pieces of hair hanging down in my face. Those pieces almost every girl I went to school with had them. I have no idea why?

Valentines Day look

I came up with a very subtle look for Valentines Day. Ive never been big on extremely heavy makeup on special days like this because you want your date to see you and how pretty you can be. Not every situation calls for a smokey black club look ya know, plus some guys HATE all of that eye makeup! All you need to complete this makeup is a cute little white dress with a pink blazer or cardigan on top and some nude, pink or white pumps :). If its a more casual date a pair of skinnys, brown or tan boots and a cream sweater with a pastel floral scarf around your neck would be cute too :) The third photo down shows how I would wear my hair with both of those outfits I just mentioned.

Slight bronze to the skin and Bright berry lips

shimmery pink eye and winged out liner

Soft flippy and flirty hair :) Glasses optional...I ran out of contacts so I have to wear them for now

Products used:

FACE:
(Left to Right)
Palladio Rice Powder, Aveda Inner Light Concealer in color Balsa,MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter in color Light Boost, Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream in color light (BB cream review will be up this week)

                                                                         EYES:
(Left to right them bottom)
The Body Shop eyeshadow in color #37 (a purpley pink) in the outer corner of eye and into the crease,Benefit Creaseless cream shadow in color r.s.v.p all over lid and up to eyebrow as a base,Clinique cream liner in color true black,Maybelline The classic Volume express in color very black.

LIPS:

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in color Raspberry Pie

CHEEKS:

(Left to Right)
Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel in hollows of cheeks, Urban Decay blush on apples of cheeks in color score

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?
My camera isnt the best for taking makeup pictures...I really need to invest in something better but have no idea what to get, any options?
