DermOrganic Intensive Hair Masque

I went to my local beauty supply store and was on the hunt for a new hair conditioner when I came across this. I have never used this line of products before, but I have used many with the same type of oil in it so I decided to give this a try. A little bit about this product...
  1. It is made with certified Argan oil. ( Argan oil comes out of the seed of an argan trees fruit, incase you were wondering)
  2. It does not leave any build up on the hair
  3. It is good for all types of hair, even color treated
  4. It has no Parabens or Sulfates

How I used it:
I have dry textured, wavy hair so that means everyday shampooing is a no no because it takes to much natural oil out and dries it out even more. I wash my hair about twice a week, even longer than that when its really dry feeling. I know you thinking "EW that's gross" but believe me its much better to control it that way.
anyway...like I said I wash it maybe twice a week so I usually use a deep conditioner as to a normal daily conditioner because I need the extra conditioning and hair masques are meant to be done twice a week.
I put about a pump and a half of the masque on starting at my ends and working my way up. I don't put it on my roots,(you don't really need to put conditioner there because your natural hair oils should be enough...unless you have psoriasis or something to that extent.) I leave it in for about 5 minutes while I wash my face and then rinse it out with cooler water.  This masque has a nice clean scent, nothing to overpowering, fruity or flowery.I like this product because It gives my hair the moisture it needs, does not weigh it down and makes it shiny and soft. OH...and it has a pump, which it makes it easier to use than a tub you have to stick your hand into. I would Defiantly recommend this product!!

See, this masque isn't extremely thick which is why I feel like it could be used once a week on people with finer hair.
This product can  be found in salons, amazon, ebay..you know places like that, you wont find it at walmart or anything. Depending on where you purchase it from this masques average price is around 15 US dollars for an 8.5oz bottle. Not too shabby since most hair masques are outrageously priced.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Review

Yes I am late on the whole Maybelline color tattoo shadows but I finally bought one to see how I liked it.

Color: Tough as Taupe

My face tends to get oily as do my eyelids so many cream shadows crease very easy on me.
To give this the full on test I did NOT use an eye primer before, I wanted to see if this product could stand on its own as a primer. I applied it with an eyeshadow brush because I felt like the product had a slight sticky feel to it and using my finger to apply it wouldn't work as well. I then set it with shadow....
As the day went on I checked my eye for crease marks and there were NONE! I was super excited to see this! I had the shadow on for about 10 hours and there was no creasing. I'm sure if I would of used an eye primer it could of lasted until the next day! So I think I'm going to go get another one. These might come in handy this summer when its 110 degrees outside and everything on your face melts off.

NOTD, First Time using Polish Strips

I am just NOW trying  the Sally Hansen nail polish strips for the first time today. I know ,I know, but better late than never..Right?
See, my hands are always in water because of my job so polish NEVER stays on my nails for longer than a day and I also couldn't justify spending 10 bucks on a one time use nail sticker, so that's why it took me forever to try these! I was walking around  CVS  about a week ago and noticed there were a few for 75% off! I was like OK, if they suck Ill be out  2 bucks instead of 10. So I bought 1. :)

"skinny jean" is the color

What it all comes with...you know, for  maybe the 1 or 2 people that have not used them yet. :P

Denim nails :)

Follow up:
I have had these on for about an hour now and one already chipped. I mean WTF? Everyone loves these things and how long they last...I read the directions correctly and did what they said and one chipped!
Does anybody have any pointers? Glad it was 2 dollars :)

Cute Blog Award

Yay my First blog Award :)

I was tagged by the lovely Jen at Adventures In Beauty with this cute Award. It really made my day seeing that Someone enjoys reading my posts.

So, for this tag there are a few Rules:

1.Link back to the person who awarded you
 2.Answer award questions
3.Tell something about yourself that you haven't told anyone on your blog yet.
 4. Award as many blogs you think are worthy of this award.

                                                      QUESTIONS

What is your go to makeup brand?
Honestly I do not have a go to makeup brand. My taste ranges depending on what type of product I'm using, for Example: Most of my lip products that I love are either by Revlon, MAC and most recently Rimmel London, Eyeshadows are hands down Urban Decay because of their great color payoff, Foundations range on how much money I have when I need a new one...when I have money I love the Smashbox Photo Finish and when I'm poor I will buy Revlon Colorstay. hmm for cheek stuff my most used ones are MAC

1.What is your favorite fashion trend of 2011?

My fedora with a glitter bow on the side
That's a hard one to answer because I rocked a few, I love the hippy vibe with the flowy shirts and sandals, also wore maxi dresses and rocked a fedora a few months.

               2.What is your favorite dessert?
               I love me some Tiramisu

                                                                3. Favorite color?
See its all blue :)

BLUE!! I have lots of blue stuff!

                                                           4.What is your middle name?
My middle name is Marie...what were you expecting?  Noel... nope only one Christmas name for me :)

5.What is the last song you listened to?
I was driving in my car and the last song that I remember was Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO. Everyday I'm shuffling :) They play that song a little too much...I don't want to shuffle every 5 minutes, I need some time to rest, Geeze :)

                                                   6.Cats or Dogs?
I had a cat when I was younger and she was cute and all, but she would run away and hide all the time and would only come lay with me when she felt like it, so now that I can have my own animal I got me a puppy. Shes always by me and gives me kisses all the time so I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm a dog person.

My puppy, Lola

Something you didn't know about me is...I am terrified of GRASSHOPPERS. I don't know what it is about them but they freak me out. There beady little eyes and there exoskeletons and the fact that they just sit there and stare at you makes me freak out. Whats even worse is one day I took Lola out to go potty (leashed) and she kept playing with something so I went to go look and it was a GRASSHOPPER! Needless to say I freaked out and started running and Lola is following behind me GRASSHOPPER in tow,she thought it was play time, I was like OMG get me the hell away from that thing! So I'm running and shes running finally she sees something else and spits the grasshopper out, I pull on her lease and run back into the house as fast as I can so she cant get to that ugly little bug again.

Ok so here are my picks for this tag. Most of the people I follow have already done this so I tried to pick some that have not done this tag yet..well at least I don't think they have. I put them in alphabetical order by blog name.( seemed the easiest way to do it)

                                               Ashley at Beauty Flawed
                                               Charlee at Charmed Charlee
                                               Jzy at jyz pinkprint
                                               Amber at Lipgloss and Flipflops
                                               Gabbi at Mieu Makeup
Annika at Passion (this blog is in swedish so you will have to translate it.)
                                              Mandy at prettymaking

A blanket and a cough

I have had the nastiest cough for the past week or two and I haven't been able to function normally. I wanted to do a blog post a few times a week if not everyday but my dumb little illness is to blame for why I haven't been posting so I'm sorry guys :( I hope this goes away soon because being up all night hacking is not fun. But anyway, I have been way to tired to put makeup on and also did not want to contaminate new makeup by swatching it  right now to make a beauty post, so, I decided to show you guys how far I am on my boyfriends crochet blanket instead, :)

Black, grey and bright green are the colors he chose.  I made up 3 different squares using the colors he picked.

Now I have to make 19 more of each colored square for a total of 60. This is going to take me FOREVER! Ill post the blanket when its completely finished.

What do you guys think?

Dolly Head

About a week ago my awesome salon provided a styling class by the wonderful Jon Reyman. If you are not familiar with him check out his sight HERE . He has done numerous runway shows for designers like Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta , and Ralph Lauren , just to name a few so it was a pleasure to have him in our salon teaching us some tricks for up styling.
Now up dos are something that I am not fond of. I can do fun things to my own head but when it comes to doing a picky brides style, it gives me anxiety.  Jon showed all of us a few things that are pretty popular and tricks on how to do them. Here are a few photos I took of my dolly head I was playing with...

Waterfall braid

Braids have been a hot thing on women's heads for the past few years so we did 4 or 5 different braiding techniques and here are the 2 that can be the most wearable for everyday.

Chingnon Hairstyle (pronounced shin-yon for those that do not know)
This Dolly head has really fine hair so this style isn't as voluminous as what it should be.

This hot mess turned into...

This :) A pretty little twist.

So what do you guys think? Not to bad for someone that never does up dos...right? I hope this will help me get over my anxiety issue soon.

Birchbox January 2012

Another month and another Birchbox!

This months box is all about starting the year off with a great face and a happy mood. oh and a Full size product!

Origins Checks and Balances face wash- This face creamy wash foams up under warm water and is meant for any skin type. It controls oil where it needs it and gives moisture to dry spots.
I have a sample of this I received in a sephora shipment (its a bigger size than this one) I do like this face wash. It is very creamy and it cleans very well. Sometimes I feel like it can be a bit drying, but not anything a little moisturiser cant fix.
Full size retails: $19.50

VMV Hypoallergenics Re-Everything- This is a face, hand, and body lotion. This product is great for travel because instead of lugging around a body lotion, hand creme and a face lotion on your trip, you only need one bottle of this. I tried it out on my hands. It feels more like a face lotion due to the thinner consistency. It doesn't have a smell so if your one of those people that like scented body moisturisers than this isn't for you, but it did make my hands feel soft. I'm going to try it out on my face next.
                                                  Full size retails: $45.00

Stila Smudge Stick waterproof liner- This liner is super creamy and glides on opaque in one swoop. The color is a very pretty peacock blue (hint the name..peacock). When I swatched this on my hand it took forever to come off. Its got some staying power for sure. Oh and its FULL SIZED
                                                               Retails: $ 20.00

Viva La Juicy- I don't need to go into much with this perfume. Its wildly popular and smells great
                                                                  Full sizes retail: $69.00-$89.00

                                                                 Birchbox extra
LARABAR mini bars- These have no fillers and are natural. I got a chocolate chip cookie dough one and cant wait to try it!
Retails: $14.95 for a box of 12 mini bars

This cute little card has tips on keeping your mind, body, and soul detox free.

They threw in a cute fridge magnet too :)

Kate Moss lipstick, Review and Swatches

Kate Moss has been a fashion and style icon for years and is now showing off some of her unique makeup style with a new lipstick collection for Rimmel London Her collection has 7 shades ranging from mild ( a creamy nude) to wild ( a bright fuchsia and deep purple). I have 2 colors to show you.
My local CVS only had about 5 colors on display in the line.I had to hunt for it though. The display itself was small and  was on a bottom shelf  mixed in with a few other displays from other brands and could be easily skipped over.  The price was $4.99 each.( I have no idea if they are selling them any cheaper at other stores or not)  I decided to go with one basic color and one crazy fun one.
These lipsticks have light reflective elements in them, that make the colors really pop.  The two I bought are more of a satin finish. They are not matte but not as shiny as a creme finish.

I picked the nude one because 1. I'm running out of a nude discontinued MAC lipstick and needed a new one and 2. Nude lips are great with the smokey/dark eyes everyone keeps rocking.

Yes, Its the crazy plum one. I love dark lips. It takes someone that is daring to pull off this color but with the right eye and cheek makeup it can be very sexy. This color is HIGHLY pigmented. I tried it out on my lips and was like "Whoa, that's some plum lips." so with that being said, this color isn't for everyone.

                                                         Its so pretty though

Baby Lips lip balm...plus 2 more things.

I went to target to find a new mascara and as I was browsing the makeup isles I found 2 more things.
I'm not a huge fan of the great lash mascara but I noticed they came out with a new wand that is supposed to give volume, have no clumping and grab all of the little lashes most wands miss. I like the tapered shape of the wand and thought it would be a fun thing to try.

Maybelline baby lips lip balm in grape vine- This is a new product that maybelline just came out with and my target only had 2 colors left. The one I have and another one called cherry me. I opted for the more purple one rather than red because I have lots of red lip products. This product claims to give moisture to the lips for 8 hours and within a month lips look less dry and rough and more soft.
Ok, that sounds good so we will see how that goes. I tried this one out and it smells like grape koolaid, has just a tint of color, is easy to apply and  feels smooth and not sticky at all. The thing is... can I used this product everyday for a month in order to see the full benefit of it? Im going to try! These are also pretty cheap at $2.99.

Revlon diamond lust in color night sky- I was not on a hunt for another dark eyeshadow but when I came across this I had to buy it. Its a deep grey almost black with holographic glitter in it. As I swatched it I noticed the glitter doesn't stay around for long so hopefully using a base will adhere the glitter a bit longer. I haven't tested this one out all day yet so I'm excited to see what it does.

Top 11 Beauty Favorites of 2011

I have found tons of new favorite products in 2011 but I didn't want a post of 100 things so here are my top 11 of 2011!! These are in no particular order...

Laura Geller blush and brighten- I love this product. I was introduced to it in my birchbox and have been using it almost everyday since. The blush is very neutral and can be used with just about any eye look. The highlighter is great on top of the cheekbones a brow highlight or my favorite, the inner corners of my eyes.

Stila eyeshadow in color barefoot contessa- Yet another birchbox find turned favorite. This purple/brown shade I love using in my crease and it pairs great with just about any other eye color.

Mac prep+prime highlighter in color light boost- This product has really helped hide my under eye discoloration.

Mac lipstick in color Vegas Volt- Rocked this color all last summer...Will probably do again for this one.

Mac shadow in the color flourishing has became my most used shade in 2011. I think is goes great with my skin tone and makes the color of my eyes pop.

Essie polish in Borrowed and blue has been my go to polish the whole year! My favorite color is blue so I tend to gravitate towards blues anyway, but there usually bright blues and for some reason this pastel blue HAD to be on my hands and feet more times than I can think this past year.

Hempz lotion- pomegranate- I have had numerous bottles of this lotion it has been my favorite for years now and 2011 has been no different. It absorbs into my skin fast and leaves it super soft.

Aveda smooth infusion -style prep-Is my favorite hair product of 2011. It tames my frizzy hair down and makes it soft and shiny. A bottle of this lasts forever because you only need 1 or 2 pumps of it.

LIVGRN earth perfume- This is a more of a winter scent, I wouldn't usually like this smell because it it slightly woodsy but for some reason I just love it and I have been wearing it on cold days.

The body shop, Vitamin C skin boost- I used this product years ago and in 2011 bought a new one. Vitamin C helps brighten up your skins complexion and this stuff makes my face have a "glow" to it.

Ok so this isn't a beauty product but owell- My Toms shoes have become my favorite anytime shoe to wear. I never thought I would like them but I do. They are so comfortable and I am planning on buying another pair here soon.

New years eve look.

Even though my New Years Eve was spending the night at a bon fire burning Christmas trees, I still wanted to be somewhat festive with glitter on my eyes!

All I used was a matte brown shadow all over my lid and up into the crease, some black gel liner, mascara, and MAC Reflects antique gold glitter. Neutral cheeks and light pink lips to finish it all off.

Love this glitter!!! I cant find this color anymore so I'm guessing its been discontinued.
