my mane blog Question Wednesday.

Wow, I have missed like a month of Nykki's mane blog Question Wednesday  blog hop posts, BAD BLOGGER!!! I better get back on track for the next 2 weeks before I move and wont be able to blog at all for a few weeks :( Anyway, On to the post!

This Week's Theme {Hair}  comes from Miss L over at Beauty by Miss L.

- What is your natural hair color? Are you happy with it?
My natural hair color is Brown, for  all you cosmo girls out there it is around a level 5

- Do you dye your hair? If yes then do you do it yourself or go to a salon?
You'd think I would since I work in a hair salon but to tell you the truth, I havent colored my hair since last September! O.o I used to color it all the time staying 1 or 2 shades lighter or darker. And since I work in a salon, I have one of my coworkers slap the color on. I have done it myself and its annoying and messy!!
- What is your must have hair care product?
That's a hard one! I have sooo many hair products but as of right now it has to be my Aveda Be Curly Style Prep. It fights frizz and doesn't weigh my wavy hair down :)

- What is the worst hair care product that you have ever used?
I don't care for shampoo and conditioner from the drugstore or walmart/target. They are all full of wax and nasty stuff and I can feel a buildup in my hair after one use of the product.
- Do you have any good tips or homemade recipes for long and pretty hair?
Always use a heat protector if your going to use any heat on your hair, dont shampoo your hair everyday as it can make your scalp over produce oil if you do, conditioner is your best friend, and please, if you color your hair black and want to be blonde dont bleach your hair out 3 times in a row...it'll more and likely break off! (if seen that too many times)

                                                   Well until next week!!!

Get that hair out your face!!

The summer is coming so that means nasty hot and humid weather here in the south, not a good thing for naturally curly/wavy haired gals. So, on days that your hair is a total fro you can do this cute bohemian hairstyle. It is super easy and quick!! This is not a really  step by step photo tutorial, its photos of the finished style but I did however, type up the steps on how to do this.

What you will need:
Hair elastics ( I used small clear and black ones)
Bobby Pins or U Pins if you like
Hairspray

 1. Take about a 2 inch section of hair on either side of your part, french braid to about where your eyebrows end and then regular braid the rest of the way down and tie it off with an elastic.

2. Leave the two braids out and gather the rest of your hair into a low ponytail. Tie off with an elastic.

3. Wrap ponytail around elastic and secure it with another small elastic and bobby pins. You can use U pins for this instead of bobby pins but I did not have any U pins at the time.

4. Take braid on left side and wrap it around bun starting on top and around the bottom, secure with bobby pins

5. Take braid on right side and wrap it around the bun starting on the bottom of the bun and wrapping to the top, secure with bobby pins. Spray with hairspray ( I used Aveda control force for this) and your done :)

Hopefully those steps were easy enough to follow. Let me know if you try out this hairstyle, send me the link or a photo in the comments below. Have a great day!!! :D

With spring and summer around the corner (I cant believe its March already!) I wanted to share with you my favorite hairstyle for the warmer seasons...BRAIDS!!!
They are so easy to do and look so cute on any type of hair!

Braided Updos:
I love how braids are being incorporated into updo styles!  These types of updos are great for any occasion and look super cute! They are even becoming the hot thing for wedding styles!

Waterfall Braid:
This is another one of my favorite braids as it can be worn with anything.

Fishtail Braid:
This type of braid can be a pain in the ass to do because you have to take TINY sections to get the effect. so in other words, it takes forever, but its worth it once your finished! It has such a bohemian feel to it and I love wearing fishtails with my flowy skirts and maxi dresses.

Would you sport the braid trend?

DermOrganic Intensive Hair Masque

I went to my local beauty supply store and was on the hunt for a new hair conditioner when I came across this. I have never used this line of products before, but I have used many with the same type of oil in it so I decided to give this a try. A little bit about this product...
  1. It is made with certified Argan oil. ( Argan oil comes out of the seed of an argan trees fruit, incase you were wondering)
  2. It does not leave any build up on the hair
  3. It is good for all types of hair, even color treated
  4. It has no Parabens or Sulfates

How I used it:
I have dry textured, wavy hair so that means everyday shampooing is a no no because it takes to much natural oil out and dries it out even more. I wash my hair about twice a week, even longer than that when its really dry feeling. I know you thinking "EW that's gross" but believe me its much better to control it that way.
anyway...like I said I wash it maybe twice a week so I usually use a deep conditioner as to a normal daily conditioner because I need the extra conditioning and hair masques are meant to be done twice a week.
I put about a pump and a half of the masque on starting at my ends and working my way up. I don't put it on my roots,(you don't really need to put conditioner there because your natural hair oils should be enough...unless you have psoriasis or something to that extent.) I leave it in for about 5 minutes while I wash my face and then rinse it out with cooler water.  This masque has a nice clean scent, nothing to overpowering, fruity or flowery.I like this product because It gives my hair the moisture it needs, does not weigh it down and makes it shiny and soft. OH...and it has a pump, which it makes it easier to use than a tub you have to stick your hand into. I would Defiantly recommend this product!!

See, this masque isn't extremely thick which is why I feel like it could be used once a week on people with finer hair.
This product can  be found in salons, amazon, ebay..you know places like that, you wont find it at walmart or anything. Depending on where you purchase it from this masques average price is around 15 US dollars for an 8.5oz bottle. Not too shabby since most hair masques are outrageously priced.
