Snapshot Sundays! 2/23/14

It's been a long time since I have posted an outfit of the day. I would love to get back into posting them again but... my battery in my good ol cannon power shot felt like dying on me. Waaaaa! :( So, as of right now I have to take selfies with my Iphone until I figure out what to do about my camera situation.
I have a crazy school schedule and posting an outfit look everyday just isn't feasible for me so, I decided Sundays would be the best day for this and Tada "Snapshot Sundays" it'll be! Every Sunday I will have a quick post of an outfit I wore and where you can find the pieces or similar pieces I had on. So much easier to shop that way! I love it when I read blogs and it has links to where you can purchase the items.

My first installment of Snapshot Sundays is what I wore on a shopping trip to target. I like to be very comfy and casual while shopping.

Smashbox Be Discovered palette

I was rummaging through my makeup not to long ago and I came across this cute little palette. I remember purchasing this sometime in 2013 on one of my many trips to Sephora. I had my eyes on it for quite some time but never picked it up until I saw it on sale for $10 USD. It was the last one so I had to snatch it up. The pastel colors in this palette could make a very pretty not over the top Valentines Day look.

Packaging: The shadows sit in a plastic pan which is encased in a cardboard material with a magnetic closure. It is honestly not that sturdy so, carrying it around with you might end up being a little messy as I see this opening up in your makeup bag and causing a big oops.
Swatched top row (L-R) Bliss,Rosewater, Opal, Mist
Bliss- matte neutral beige/vanilla
Rosewater- shimmer pastel pink
Opal- white shimmer with a hint of pink
Mist- shimmer pale taupe
Swatched bottom row from (L-R) Adobe, Champagne, Pebble, Lilac
Adobe- matte milk chocolate
Champagne- metallic peach/gold
Pebble- matte cool tone brown
Lilac- shimmer lilac

Final Thoughts: The swatch colors of this palette are very subtle but they can be easily packed on the eye for a more dramatic look. These shadows feel very silky and blend easy. They do have fall out but do not create that much of a mess due to how subtle the shades are.

Where to buy: This was a limited edition product and is no longer sold at Sephora or the Smashbox website however, I did find it on  Amazon for $37.50 USD

Naked Basics

I know it's crazy but this is my FIRST palette from the Urban Decay Naked line. I know. I know where have I been? I have no idea why I waited so long to buy a palette when every eyeshadow single I own from this brand is wonderful. I decided I would purchase the Naked Basics palette as I am more likely to use this on a daily basis and I though this would be a wonderful travel palette because of the small size. So, lets get onto it shall we...

The packaging is made from hard sturdy plastic with a rubber coating. Which is great because I tend to drop and break things a lot. I break so many shadow palettes by accidentally dropping them on the floor. If you must know, Yes, I have dropped this thing...3 times...an No, It has not broke. SCORE! :)

This palette contains 5 matte shades and 1 shimmery shade. The matte formula is wonderful, it is super smooth and blends easily. The one shade in this palette that is not matte pairs with the matte shades very well as it is not overly shimmery, this shade...called Venus almost appears to be a satin finish.
This is a list of the colors as stated on the Urban Decay website  Venus (soft, off-white demi-matte), Foxy (cream bisque matte), Walk of Shame (very light nude matte), Naked2 (taupe matte), Faint (warm, dusty brown matte) and Crave (deepest, darkest brown/black matte).
Final Thoughts: I love this palette! All 6 colors are buttery smooth, have excellent pigmentation and blend easily. If you love wearing neutrals then try this palette out. The small size makes it very easy to slip inside your purse makeup bag and the large mirror that it comes with is a plus.
My favorite way to wear these colors are with Naked 2 on the lid, Foxy as a transition color in the crease, Faint in the crease and sometimes Ill use Crave in the outer V or as a liner and depending on my mood I will use either W.O.S or Venus as a brow bone highlight.

Where to buy: Urban Decay, Sephora and Ulta for $28 USD

What is your favorite way to use this palette?

MAC Cremesheen Lipstick

I decided I needed a new everyday lipstick because the one that I had was running low so, off to MAC I went, in search of a new color. I think it took me maybe 5 minutes to find this lovely color and as soon as I swatched it on my hand I knew I had to have it! The color is called Morning Rose, a limited edition shade from the magnetic nude collection.  MAC describes this color as a "soft cool rose" (a cremesheen finish), to me it appears to be a rosy mauve with slight warm undertones and a subtle shimmer. Its a good mix between warm and cool and is the reason why I needed to get this color. I have nothing like it in my collection.

This lipstick applies easily and adheres to my lips well. Staying power is about 4 hours before I needed to reapply. It did not hydrate my lips but it did not dry them out either. If your lips are prone to dryness I would suggest using a lip balm before applying this lipstick.

Final thoughts: I am loving this lipstick! It is the perfect everyday color for me. It looks like my lips but better and goes well with every eye look I have tried with it. In the summer I feel like this lipstick is going to look great paired with bronze and coral looks.

Unfortunately, when I checked the MAC website for this lipstick, it was sold out. Hopefully a MAC counter or store near you will have this wonderful color. Priced at $16 USD
