A blanket and a cough

I have had the nastiest cough for the past week or two and I haven't been able to function normally. I wanted to do a blog post a few times a week if not everyday but my dumb little illness is to blame for why I haven't been posting so I'm sorry guys :( I hope this goes away soon because being up all night hacking is not fun. But anyway, I have been way to tired to put makeup on and also did not want to contaminate new makeup by swatching it  right now to make a beauty post, so, I decided to show you guys how far I am on my boyfriends crochet blanket instead, :)

Black, grey and bright green are the colors he chose.  I made up 3 different squares using the colors he picked.

Now I have to make 19 more of each colored square for a total of 60. This is going to take me FOREVER! Ill post the blanket when its completely finished.

What do you guys think?

Dolly Head

About a week ago my awesome salon provided a styling class by the wonderful Jon Reyman. If you are not familiar with him check out his sight HERE . He has done numerous runway shows for designers like Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta , and Ralph Lauren , just to name a few so it was a pleasure to have him in our salon teaching us some tricks for up styling.
Now up dos are something that I am not fond of. I can do fun things to my own head but when it comes to doing a picky brides style, it gives me anxiety.  Jon showed all of us a few things that are pretty popular and tricks on how to do them. Here are a few photos I took of my dolly head I was playing with...

Waterfall braid

Braids have been a hot thing on women's heads for the past few years so we did 4 or 5 different braiding techniques and here are the 2 that can be the most wearable for everyday.

Chingnon Hairstyle (pronounced shin-yon for those that do not know)
This Dolly head has really fine hair so this style isn't as voluminous as what it should be.

This hot mess turned into...

This :) A pretty little twist.

So what do you guys think? Not to bad for someone that never does up dos...right? I hope this will help me get over my anxiety issue soon.

Birchbox January 2012

Another month and another Birchbox!

This months box is all about starting the year off with a great face and a happy mood. oh and a Full size product!

Origins Checks and Balances face wash- This face creamy wash foams up under warm water and is meant for any skin type. It controls oil where it needs it and gives moisture to dry spots.
I have a sample of this I received in a sephora shipment (its a bigger size than this one) I do like this face wash. It is very creamy and it cleans very well. Sometimes I feel like it can be a bit drying, but not anything a little moisturiser cant fix.
Full size retails: $19.50

VMV Hypoallergenics Re-Everything- This is a face, hand, and body lotion. This product is great for travel because instead of lugging around a body lotion, hand creme and a face lotion on your trip, you only need one bottle of this. I tried it out on my hands. It feels more like a face lotion due to the thinner consistency. It doesn't have a smell so if your one of those people that like scented body moisturisers than this isn't for you, but it did make my hands feel soft. I'm going to try it out on my face next.
                                                  Full size retails: $45.00

Stila Smudge Stick waterproof liner- This liner is super creamy and glides on opaque in one swoop. The color is a very pretty peacock blue (hint the name..peacock). When I swatched this on my hand it took forever to come off. Its got some staying power for sure. Oh and its FULL SIZED
                                                               Retails: $ 20.00

Viva La Juicy- I don't need to go into much with this perfume. Its wildly popular and smells great
                                                                  Full sizes retail: $69.00-$89.00

                                                                 Birchbox extra
LARABAR mini bars- These have no fillers and are natural. I got a chocolate chip cookie dough one and cant wait to try it!
Retails: $14.95 for a box of 12 mini bars

This cute little card has tips on keeping your mind, body, and soul detox free.

They threw in a cute fridge magnet too :)

Kate Moss lipstick, Review and Swatches

Kate Moss has been a fashion and style icon for years and is now showing off some of her unique makeup style with a new lipstick collection for Rimmel London Her collection has 7 shades ranging from mild ( a creamy nude) to wild ( a bright fuchsia and deep purple). I have 2 colors to show you.
My local CVS only had about 5 colors on display in the line.I had to hunt for it though. The display itself was small and  was on a bottom shelf  mixed in with a few other displays from other brands and could be easily skipped over.  The price was $4.99 each.( I have no idea if they are selling them any cheaper at other stores or not)  I decided to go with one basic color and one crazy fun one.
These lipsticks have light reflective elements in them, that make the colors really pop.  The two I bought are more of a satin finish. They are not matte but not as shiny as a creme finish.

I picked the nude one because 1. I'm running out of a nude discontinued MAC lipstick and needed a new one and 2. Nude lips are great with the smokey/dark eyes everyone keeps rocking.

Yes, Its the crazy plum one. I love dark lips. It takes someone that is daring to pull off this color but with the right eye and cheek makeup it can be very sexy. This color is HIGHLY pigmented. I tried it out on my lips and was like "Whoa, that's some plum lips." so with that being said, this color isn't for everyone.

                                                         Its so pretty though

Baby Lips lip balm...plus 2 more things.

I went to target to find a new mascara and as I was browsing the makeup isles I found 2 more things.
I'm not a huge fan of the great lash mascara but I noticed they came out with a new wand that is supposed to give volume, have no clumping and grab all of the little lashes most wands miss. I like the tapered shape of the wand and thought it would be a fun thing to try.

Maybelline baby lips lip balm in grape vine- This is a new product that maybelline just came out with and my target only had 2 colors left. The one I have and another one called cherry me. I opted for the more purple one rather than red because I have lots of red lip products. This product claims to give moisture to the lips for 8 hours and within a month lips look less dry and rough and more soft.
Ok, that sounds good so we will see how that goes. I tried this one out and it smells like grape koolaid, has just a tint of color, is easy to apply and  feels smooth and not sticky at all. The thing is... can I used this product everyday for a month in order to see the full benefit of it? Im going to try! These are also pretty cheap at $2.99.

Revlon diamond lust in color night sky- I was not on a hunt for another dark eyeshadow but when I came across this I had to buy it. Its a deep grey almost black with holographic glitter in it. As I swatched it I noticed the glitter doesn't stay around for long so hopefully using a base will adhere the glitter a bit longer. I haven't tested this one out all day yet so I'm excited to see what it does.
